Lot 35 Overgrowth
This stretch of sidewalk along the N Laelua side of 45 Hoe St (Lot 35) had been impassable for several years and was getting progressively worse with haole koa, cane grass, & other weeds blocking the sidewalk. It was unsightly and dangerous to pedestrians, a disgrace to the neighborhood. The Board had no recourse but to have the work done when the owners ignored requests to clean it up. The overgrowth blocked the Stop sign and violated County site distance laws.
As the Snow Bush had been neglected for so many years and had been allowed to grow out over the sidewalk, what was not dead was so leggy that it had to be cut way back to allow room for new growth that wouldn't immediately block the sidewalk again. Proper care of Snow Bush requires vigorous pruning.
