Baldwin Beach Pavilion

Our beloved Baldwin Beach pavilion is being claimed by Mother Ocean. In August and September 2020 the waves undercut the front third of the pavilion for the first time in over 50 years until the slab broke and the walls fell. On Aug 22, heavy equipment removed the front third of the structure creating a 15 foot strip of sand in front of the remaining pavilion only to have it washed away within a week. The waves began undercutting the slab a second time, but then the sand gradually returned saving the slab from breaking again. As of Oct 28 the beach in front of the pavilion is quite wide.

So the pavilion appears to be safe for now but the waves are wreaking havoc further down the beach.
