Haole Koa Extraction

Haole Koa is a scourge on the island of Maui. It is invasive, aggressive, and an extreme fire hazard. The Fire Marshall has been empowered to fine property owners of Wildland-urban Interface areas (WUI) $2500 per day if "wildfire fuel" is not removed. Tom & I have been working daily to eliminate Haole Koa from the Retention Basin as quickly as humanly possible to ensure the basin does not pose a fire risk. The only way to kill Haole Koa is to dig it out by the roots. I have been using a pick and an axe for 3 years; Tom's new method is much faster. His winch can exert 12,000 lbs of pressure to uproot the entire tree, roots and all. It is truly amazing to witness. Mahalo plenty, Tom! Here is a video of Tom's invention and how he extracts Haole Koa.
