Makana Bike Ramps

The kids of Kuau Bayview have invested considerable time, effort, and imagination into creating for themselves a bicycle track for developing their bike-riding skills, for which I think they should be commended. The adults primarily walk the asphalt track, play soccer/baseball on the park floor, and let their dogs run free. The slopes of the basin are pretty much unused. Parks should be for kids too. I think the bike track at the top of the slope is a good use of unused space without impinging on the adult areas.

Once the Haole Koa fire hazard is cleared from the Park Retention Basin, perhaps the kids could build their bike ramps in there. That unused area would be a great place for kids to play inside their own neighborhood. Keeping kids busy doing productive work and learning to be responsible for maintaining something they care about will help keep them away from graffiti and drugs. There are lots of other kids in KB who would probably love to help.
